The USAFCENT, or United States Air Force Central Command, is a unified combatant command within the U.S. Department of Defense. Its primary area of focus is the Middle East and it coordinates and conducts all air and space operations in this region. It also supports joint military operations and coalition warfare. The USAFCENT was established in 1983 to oversee U.S. military activities following the Iran hostage crisis, ensuring stability and promoting peace in the Central Command Area of Responsibility, which includes 20 countries.
