Jeanne and Norbert Pierlot are a couple of potters who have marked the history of French ceramics after the war. Pupil of Eugene Lion in Saint Amand en Puisaye, Jeanne met Norbert Pierlot. The two of them got married and acquired the Chteau de Ratilly, which became a Mecca for post-war French ceramics. Numerous trainees and renowned ceramists such as Georges Jouves followed in their footsteps. The Pierlots had an important and impressive production of everyday pieces, dishes and jugs. Mostly with minimalist white and beige glazes on chamotte clay, highlighting the brutality and the original character of the material with its heterogeneity. It emerges from their ceramics a unique and wild sensual character.
