Jocelyn Mercier won the Jean Chieze prize for wood engraving with this print in 1994.
The artist is particularly known for his epistolary relationship with the current King of England, Charles III, Prince of Wales at the time. These exchanges allowed him to create the Ex-Libris of the future sovereign of the United Kingdom. Specializing in Ex-Libris, he also engraved those of Herv Bazin, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor and Jean-Claude Brialy.
