Hans Platschek, who was born in Berlin in 1923, moved out to South America with his family in 1939. Hans Platschek starts studying at the art college in Montevideo. In Montevideo, Hans Platschek becomes a board member of the association of art students Uruguay and is a co -founder of an Institute for Modern Art and co -editor of the cultural magazine “Clima”. Hans Platschek shows his first solo exhibition in Montevideo in 1948, in 1951 he gave lectures at the University of Santiago de Chile. Platschek then lived in Montevideo and Buenos Aires in the following years until 1953. After his return to Germany in 1953, he met in Paris Max Ernst, Raoul Hausmann, Tristan Tzara, Hans Arp and Asger Jorn. Platschek moved to Munich in 1955. The Munich Gallery van de Loo first exhibited works by Hans Platschek in 1957 and regularly accompanies it in the next few years. Together with Jorn, Platschek wrote a leaflet for the “situationist international” on the occasion of his participation in the XXIV. Biennale Venice in 1958. In the following years, Hans Platschek shows his work at various international exhibitions, such as 1959 at Documenta II, and is honored with numerous prizes. In 1963 Hans Platschek received a guest lecturer at the University of Design in Ulm. In the next few years, Platschek will move several times to Rome, later to London before he settled in Hamburg in 1970. During this time, Platschek publishes several books in which he deals with art and the art business. In 1989 the Galerie Gabriele von Loeper, Hamburg and the Van de Loo gallery, Munich Solo exhibitions on the occasion of the 75th birthday Platschekk. In 1999 the Kunsthalle in Emden organized a retrospective on the work of the artist. Hans Platschek died in Hamburg in 2000.
