This rare two-light hanging lamp was handcrafted in the famous Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) folk art region in East Germany / GDR during the 1950s. The lamp features the iconic folk art sandman figurine hand-painted and made of turned wood. Two opaline glass lamps with metal lids are suspended from a wooden stick. The triangular geometry of cable and stick can be adjusted. The Erzgebirge-Region in East Germany is famous for its traditional woodwork and folk art such as nutcracker figurines or high-quality Christmas decorations, always made with great attention to the detail.
