It was originally fixed on a 3 m long flag mast and attached to the outer wall of the factory when parades.
High quality and made of robust cotton fabric.

The flag with three horizontal, equally wide stripes in the colors black and white-red from 1867 to 1871 was a license plate for commercial and warships of the North German Confederation, from 1871 to 1919 the national flag (officially defined 1892) of the German Empire in the imperial era.
In the Empire, the colors became black and white-red too far from national colors.
After 1919 they remained the dominant colors in the trade flag of the Weimar Republic.
