The U.S. Air Force Reserve (AFRes) is a component of the United States Air Force (USAF). It provides trained Air Force personnel to support the regular USAF forces when needed. The AFRes, established in 1948, operates under Title 10 U.S. Code and reports directly to the Secretary of the Air Force. Members serve part-time, usually one weekend a month and two weeks each year, although they can be called up for active duty at any time. They are trained in a wide range of specialties, including pilots, maintenance, healthcare, cybersecurity, and logistics. The AFRes plays a crucial role in maintaining the readiness of the USAF by augmenting its capabilities during peacetime and providing critical support during wartime or national emergencies.
