The 6th Special Operations Squadron (6th SOS) is a specialized unit within the United States Air Force, operating under the Air Combat Command. Established during World War II in 1943, its primary role has historically been conducting special operations, airborne reconnaissance, and unconventional warfare. The squadron operates MC-130 combat transport aircraft, including variants such as the MC-130H Combat Talon I and II, and the MC-130J Commando II.
