The 489th Bomb Group AFRC (Air Force Reserve Command) is a United States Air Force reserve unit that operates out of Rickenbacker International Airport, Ohio. Originally active during World War II as part of the Eighth Air Force, it conducted bombing campaigns over Europe from bases in England. The group was deactivated after the war but reactivated as a reserve unit in 1947. Today, its primary mission is to provide reserve bomber and support capabilities to the United States Air Force. The group’s aircraft fleet includes B-52 Stratofortresses and KC-135 Stratotankers.
