The 404th Air Expeditionary Group is a unit of the United States Air Force. It operates under Air Mobility Command and is headquartered at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. The group’s primary mission involves providing global mobility for U.S. forces through aerial refueling, transportation of personnel and cargo, and air base support. The 404th AEG manages the operations of the 902nd Airlift Wing, 100th Air Refueling Wing, and the 352nd Special Operations Wing. Its aircraft fleet includes C-17 Globemaster III, KC-135 Stratotanker, and MC-130J Commando II. The group’s history dates back to 1942, with significant deployments in World War II, the Cold War, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom among others.
