The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is a U.S. Army unit, serving under the active duty component of the Army National Guard. Established in 2005, it is headquartered at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, Starke, Florida. The brigade is organized as a Reconnaissance/Aviation Brigade and is part of the U.S. Army’s cavalry force structure, which includes reconnaissance, surveillance, security, and mobility operations. The unit’s primary mission is to provide armed reconnaissance, security, and maneuver support to the ground forces it serves with, utilizing a mix of mounted and dismounted reconnaissance assets and aviation assets including Apaches, Black Hawks, and Kiowas. Throughout its history, the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team has been activated for various missions both domestically and overseas.
