It is headquartered at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, and falls under the operational control of the U.S. Pacific Command’s Fifth Air Force. Its mission includes providing theater-wide air power projection capabilities in support of the U.S. and its allies in the Indo-Pacific region. The Wing consists of multiple units, including fighter squadrons, airlift squadrons, maintenance groups, and support organizations. The 386th AEW’s primary aircraft are the F-15C/D Eagles and C-130 Hercules. Its activities encompass a wide range of missions such as air defense, close air support, airdrop operations, search and rescue, and humanitarian aid.
