The 55th Wing is a component of the United States Air Force (USAF) based at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. It falls under the jurisdiction of Air Combat Command (ACC). Established on February 18, 1942, this wing specializes primarily in providing global command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities to the USAF and the United States government through the 55th Network Wing and the 55th Mission Support Group. The 55th Wing is also responsible for operating the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) command centers, ensuring the defense of North America against aerial threats.
