Medical Command Korea (U.S. Army) The Medical Command Korea (Medscom-K) is a U.S. Army Medical Department organization responsible for providing medical support to all U.S. forces stationed in South Korea, as well as participating in regional multilateral exercises. It was established on July 1, 2016, following the merger of the U.S. Army-Republic of Korea Combined Forces Command Medical Command and the U.S. Army-Korea Medical Command. The command’s mission includes planning, coordinating, and executing medical support for all U.S. forces in South Korea during peace, contingency, crisis, and war conditions. It also provides emergency medical services to the local Korean population in times of natural disasters or other humanitarian crises. Medscom-K consists of multiple units including hospitals, clinics, dental clinics, laboratory facilities, and support elements. The command works closely with the Republic of Korea-Army (ROK-A) Medical Command to ensure seamless and effective medical support for both forces. In addition to its primary mission, Medscom-K contributes to regional security by participating in multilateral exercises such as Ulchi Freedom Guardian and Key Resolve. It also collaborates with international organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations agencies on public health initiatives.
