The 122nd Fighter Wing is a unit of the United States Air Force (USAF). It falls under the jurisdiction of the Air National Guard and is based at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. The primary mission of the 122nd Fighter Wing is air defense of North America as part of the U.S. Northern Command’s aerospace control. The wing operates the F-15 Eagle, a twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed to gain and maintain air supremacy in aerial combat. The 122nd Fighter Wing also provides support to civil authorities during natural disasters or other emergencies.
